Back Forty Marketplace was built by neighbors, for neighbors.
Brendan and Kimberly Dekker moved to Black Forest in 2020 with a simple idea: raise their kids close to the land, learn to grow and make their own food, and build a quieter kind of life. Today that looks like a flock of chickens, a small herd of goats, sourdough on the counter, fresh cheese in the fridge, and a garden that fights the Colorado growing season every year — and sometimes wins.
What they couldn't always find was a good way to connect with the people doing the same things nearby. The family down the road with extra eggs. The neighbor selling a hay feeder. The beekeeper a few miles out with nucs in the spring. Those transactions were happening on generic platforms built for a different kind of buyer and seller.
So they built something better.
